Bucket List Trip · September 2026
Mount Toubkal& Sahara Desert
Mountains + Desert in one trip.
A challenge that's accessible. An adventure you'll never forget.
The Next Base 13 Adventure
The next Base 13 Adventure is almost here, and we can't wait.
Following on from our Kilimanjaro adventure last year, we're heading back to North Africa and this time, we're going bigger. Join the Base 13 community as we explore the breathtaking Atlas Mountains, summit Mount Toubkal (North Africa's highest peak at 4,167m), and experience the magic of the Sahara Desert.
This is mountains and desert in a single trip. Two completely different worlds, one unforgettable journey. From the rugged, switchback trails of the High Atlas to the vast, golden expanse of the Sahara, you'll experience landscapes that most people only ever see in photographs.
Expect spectacular mountain scenery that takes your breath away with every step. Unforgettable desert landscapes and a night sky so clear it doesn't feel real. Incredible food traditional Moroccan tagines, fresh bread, mint tea brewed over an open flame. Amazing company, surrounded by people who push each other forward. And memories that will last a lifetime.
Whether you came to Kilimanjaro with us last year or you're completely new to the Base 13 Bucket list, this trip is designed to be a once in a lifetime experience that you'll never forget!

First trekking day. Steady pace, building into it.
Summit Day (4,167m) + Descend
Early start, reach the summit of Mount Toubkal, then descend.
Sahara Desert Begins
Travel through Morocco. Camel ride into the desert. Sunset over the dunes. Camp, food, music. Unreal night sky.

Final Night in Marrakech
Back to the city, relax and enjoy before heading home.
The Perfect Window
Ideal Temperatures
Not too hot in the desert, not too cold in the mountains. You get the best of both worlds.
Snow-Free Summit
No crampons. No ice axes. No technical climbing. Just a challenging hike that feels like a real adventure.
Clear Skies
Incredible views and perfect conditions for trekking. Unforgettable sunsets over both mountain and desert.

"A challenge, but accessible. No need for mountaineering experience."
What About Altitude?
Toubkal is 4,167m — so yes, it's high.
But the way we do it is progressive and guided, which massively reduces the risk of getting sick. Most people are absolutely fine.
Ascend gradually — giving your body time to adapt
Stay hydrated — guided water breaks throughout
Right pace — never rushed, always comfortable
Need Reassurance?
Altitude sickness is unlikely for the majority, but we'll always keep an eye on symptoms.
If anyone is concerned, something like Acetazolamide (Diamox) can be discussed with your doctor beforehand — but it's not something most people end up needing.
Our guides are trained in altitude safety and carry emergency protocols. Your wellbeing is always the priority.

"Slower pace. Completely different experience after the mountain."
